What is the Salary Calculator?

The Salary Calculator estimates your monthly take-home (net) pay from your annual CTC (Cost to Company), based on a typical Indian salary structure — Basic pay, HRA, employee Provident Fund (PF) contribution and income tax. It's built for quick estimation, not payroll-grade accuracy.

How to Use the Salary Calculator

  1. Enter your annual CTC as stated in your offer letter or payslip.
  2. Adjust HRA and PF percentages if your employer uses different figures (40% HRA and 12% PF are common defaults).
  3. Add any other fixed monthly deductions (e.g. professional tax, loan EMIs deducted at source).
  4. Read your breakdown — gross, deductions and net take-home pay, monthly and annually.

What Affects Take-Home Salary?

  • Basic pay — usually 40–50% of CTC, and the base for HRA and PF calculations.
  • HRA (House Rent Allowance) — partly tax-exempt if you pay rent; see the HRA Calculator.
  • Provident Fund — a mandatory retirement savings deduction, typically 12% of basic pay.
  • Income tax slab — depends on total taxable income and which tax regime you choose.

Frequently Asked Questions

It's a close estimate using common defaults, but actual payslips vary by company policy, bonuses, allowances and exact tax deductions. Treat the result as a planning estimate, not an official figure.

CTC (Cost to Company) is the total amount your employer spends on you annually, including benefits. Take-home salary is what actually lands in your bank account after PF, tax and other deductions — always lower than CTC.
